Ian R. Lane received the B.Tech. degree in information engineering from Massey University, 
New Zealand in 2000. He was awarded a Monbukagakusho scholarship to study in the School 
of Informatics, Kyoto University, where he received the M.E. degree in 2003 and is 
currently undertaking research towards a Ph.D. degree. He is also an intern researcher 
at ATR Spoken Language Communication Research Laboratories. Mr. Lane is a member of the 
Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ), IEICE, and IEEE.
