Introduction & biography

I'm a PhD student at the Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. I'm in the Media Archiving Research Laboratory at the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies. I am also an intern researcher at Spoken Language Communication Research Laboratories, at ATR. My Ph D advisor is Prof. Tatsuya Kawahara.

I received an undergraduate (Btech) degree in Information and Communication Engineering from Massey University, and a Masters degree in Informatics from Kyoto University.

Research Interests

Currently my research interests are focused on speech recognition, specifically:

Machine learning approaches for topic classification of spontaneous dialogue
Detection and handling of out-of-domain utterances
Modeling dialogue in human-machine-human interactions. (e.g. speech-to-speech translation)
